What storyline should I have?
I'm starting on writing a novel of a sort, just for myself, occupy time, etc. and I would like it to either be war/secret operations, or mafia 50's gang and mafia warfare, so which should it be, and if anyone can offer a good storyline, it would be greatly appreciated 
Hi! Interesting question. I'd suggest you go for the mafia warfare story. It's much more down to earth and easy to connect to city life than war stories.
Try something with an estranged family feel. Something where an important person from the Mafia family (informant, heir) gets totally sick of the business and so tries to take them down with a group of people (ideas: private investigator, a snitch, etc). Climax: Shootout between the protagonist's group, the Mafia, and the Police.
